So I’ve noticed that the overall rating for toys is basically the average of all the ratings we’ve submitted in evaluation of the toy, but I feel like having it that way inflates the ratings. For instance I could have an amazing toy that’s gorgeous, well built, easy to use, etc. but if my overall satisfaction with the toy is placed at 0.5 stars, it barely changes the overall rating at all. In theory I guess it make sense that a toy that checks all the boxes it should be extraordinary, but this isn’t always the case and I feel like ratings should reflect that. Ya know? In other words, some toys don’t work for everyone no matter how perfect they are and I feel like seeing a toy that doesn’t work for me be given 4.5 stars instead of a 2.5 feels false.
I think it would make sense to let the rater/reviewer have control over the average rating, but then allow the rating for things like materials, vibration strength, ease of use, etc. combine into an average somewhere below the toy itself that’s easily visible for other users.
