How to masturbate with a vulva

Step 0: Prepare

Ensure that youll be alone and undisturbed for a decent period of time. You should always masturbate in a private place, preferably with a calm and relaxing environment. Wash your hands well, make sure they're warm, and cut/file your nails if need be. Be sure to wash all of your potential sex toys. Placing down a towel or keeping one nearby can help minimize and mess and make cleanup easier.

Step 1: Create a mood

Female masturbation tends to be very cerebral and setting a mood is important. Mental arousal is just as essential to pleasure as physical arousal or stimulation so it's important to clear your mind of distractions and focus on connecting with your body.

Live in your moment and really think about what arouses you. Let that feeling develop in you as you slowly stroke around your whole body. Dodge the pubic area for a while to focus more on how you feel. Masturbation is not a race to an orgasm.

Step 2: Get aroused

Stroke and caress your body's erogenous zones such as the inner thighs, breasts (if you have them), nipples, abdomen, and neck to help you build sensitivity and physical arousal. The nipples are a very optimal area due to their connection to the same region of the brain as the clitoris.

As you continue with this stimulation, you will feel your body warm up, your clitoris swell, and your vagina become wet and more "open". Your heartbeat will quicken, and you will also feel compelled to rub your genitals.

Step 3: Clitoral and vulval stimulation

Once your genitals have swollen from arousal, they'll often feel warm, slippery, and highly sensitive. Your clitoris, which has erectile tissue might appear more pronounced as it peeks out from under the clitoral good. At this point you should be ready to begin touching it. The most popular way to do so is to gently rub around it in small circles using 1-3 fingers but many other techniques can be used including sliding up and down to either side, rythmiy tapping on or above it, or sweeping over it in a side-to-side motion

It is advised that you rub on top of the clitoris as opposed to directly on it, as it is a very sensitive organ. If you experience too much sensitivity then rubbing over your panties or through a sheet can help dampen the sensation. Alternatively, you may need to pull back the clitoral hood in order to allow more direct stimulation if you are less sensitive. Some people like to run their fingers down and around their labia or cup the entire vulva with their hand while gently appling pressure and motion with a variety of speeds.

Another common introductory technique is to hump an object like a pillow, balled up comforter, stuffed animal, armrest, or your own hand. To do this, either straddle one of these objects and use your body weight, or use your hands to pull it against your vulva. Rocking, bouncing, and sliding your hips will place rythmic pressure on your clitoris. You may want to keep your panties on or cover the object in a towel to prevent stains and smells.

Note that you can masturbate either fully nude or clothed, and that you can assume a variety of positions: laying in your back of stomach, standing, sitting, kneeling, and everything in between.

Step 4: Vaginal and G-spot stimulation (optional)

*Vaginal stimulation is a great way to masturbate, however it is not required to have a good masturbation experience. You may require a lot of practice to learn how to enjoy penetration. Furthermore, it is somewhat rare to experience an orgasm from vaginal stimulation alone.*

*Did you know?: The clitoris has a much larger internal structure that wraps around the vagina and can be stimulated by penetration as well as external play*

Be sure your vagina is well lubricated inside and out for the best results. Everyone produces different quantities of natural lubricant so it may be nessesary to add store bought lube. It would be wise to keep your fingernails short and your hands clean in order to prevent injury or infection.

Many people prefer to insert two fingers, specifically the middle and ring fingers into the vagina. If you have never experienced penetration, it is recommended that you use only one finger to build your comfort level and learn to relax your pelvic floor muscles. If you are nervous, try not to fixate on this fear as this can cause you to tense up and make insertion difficult: a calm and relaxed approach is key.

Your vaginal cavity averages about 4 inches deep when unaroused, but can stretch to as long as 8 inches when aroused. Inside, your G-spot (Gräfenburg spot) is approximately 1-2" deep and is located on the anterior wall of the vagina.

To reach the G-spot, curl your fingers upwards and feel around for an slightly firmer area that's often described as having a walnut-like texture. You can stimulate it by mimicking a “come here” motion with your fingers. Much like clitoral stimulation, you can also try rythmic tapping or sliding motions.

Step 5: Orgasm

When you approach orgasm, you will feel your body pull down slightly, which is the point of no return; a few moments later, you will feel your vagina and anus clench fairly tightly and spasm for a few seconds, typically accompanied by a feeling of intense euphoria washing over your entire body.

Depending on the strength of the orgasm, your toes may curl up and your eyes may squint. Some people drool a lot and roll their eyes up a bit. Some people may also "squirt" clear fluid from the urethra, but contrary to a common misconception this is not essential at all and most orgasms happen without it.

The exact feelings of orgasm may vary from person to person, and even from one orgasm to another.

Step 6: Cleanup

Female orgasms tend to create less of a mess than male orgasms, however cleanup is still necessary. If you only used your hands, wash them. If you used sex toys, wash those too.

If you used lots of lube, it may interest you to wipe it off with toilet paper or a washcloth. Unless the lube has sugars or parabens in it, leaving it should be fine, though your underwear will dirty quickly.

If you squirted, wash any surfaces and fabrics that your bodily fluids came into contact with.
